What is Botox?
Botox is a protein derived from botulism toxin that is injected underneath skin in order to minimize or smooth out lines and wrinkles on the face. When low doses of Botox are used, it actually relaxes facial muscles, giving the recipient a clean, smooth facial appearance.
Botox is a purified protein toxin produced by the clostridium botulinum bacteria and has been used in the medical field since 1980. For cosmetic purposes, Botox is used in extremely small doses and does not spread throughout the body.
